Abstract

This monograph-length, technical investigation examines the sufficiency of instantaneous gravitational inference in galaxies using a regime-based, falsification-driven program. Through matched-pair and population-level analyses, the work identifies a persistent identifiability failure—referred to here as the Twin Galaxy Paradox—in which closely baryon-matched systems exhibit systematically distinct outer kinematics under identical present-day conditions. Across spirals, dwarfs, and clusters, this failure survives multiple adversarial tests and necessitates a causal, retarded response when interpreted within standard instantaneous frameworks, without introducing new particles, force laws, or phenomenological tuning. The analysis is explicitly non-cosmological and defers early-universe implications. A cumulative adjudication is presented, emphasizing termination, boundary-setting, and internal consistency rather than model fitting or statistical preference. A concluding coda reports an empirical temporal ordering of the deviation without assigning cosmological interpretation, motivating—but not executing—a subsequent treatment of long-timescale dynamics. No scientific content, assumptions, analyses, or conclusions have changed. Corrected minor typographical errors. Removed a premature forward reference to Part III to avoid narrative confusion. Removed an inadvertently duplicated chapter summary introduced during compilation. v1.1.4 (2026-01-16)Formal clarification and completion of theoretical presentation. No empirical analyses, figures, datasets, or conclusions have changed. Made conservation and sourcing in the response sector explicit by construction. Reframed the memory–lag kernel as the retarded representation of the constitutive relaxation law. Clarified scope and intent in the Preface; dark matter treated explicitly as a calibration regime. v1.1.2 (2026-01-14)Editorial and scholarly attribution corrections only. No scientific content, derivations, assumptions, or conclusions have changed. Restored external literature citations inadvertently omitted from Chapter 10 and Appendices J–L during earlier compilation. Expanded in-text citations to properly attribute observational standards and methodological constraints used in cluster-merger adjudication. v1.1.1 (2026-01-12)Presentation-level revisions only. No scientific content or conclusions have changed. Corrected the title to reflect the multi-volume structure of the Causal Response Framework. Corrected a single typographical error in the Table of Contents. v1.1 (2026-01-07)Technical and presentation-level revisions only. No scientific content or conclusions have changed. Corrected appendix figure and table numbering. Minor LaTeX typesetting and compilation fixes. v1.0 (original release)Initial public release.
