Internship proposal: Pulse waveform shape metrics from harmonic analysis in retinal Doppler holography
Abstract
Retinal Doppler holography provides seconds-long, dye-free recordings of beat-resolved blood-flowwaveforms in principal retinal arteries and veins. Beyond mean flow, the \emph{shape} of the pulse waveencodes clinically relevant information: dicrotic/reflection features, relative pulsatility, andhigh-frequency damping (microvascular filtering). This internship will define, implement, and validatea compact \textbf{Tier-1} panel of \textbf{pulse waveform shape metrics} extracted from the distributionof velocity harmonics (often measurable up to $\sim$10 cardiac harmonics in high-SNR vessels), withstrict quality gates, uncertainty estimation, and benchmark-grade reproducibility. Outputs will beintegrated into the open-source pipeline and the standard microvascular health report.
