Abstract

This paper proposes Relational Emergence Systems (RES), a unifying perspective describing how meaning, symbols, and force exist and interact without invoking causation. RES posits that: (1) only relations exist; (2) symbol, meaning, and force are ontologically independent; (3) meaning emerges from relations and persists in the field; (4) selective overwriting and forgetting are possible; (5) force operates as a vector field drawing states toward stable couplings; and (6) all descriptions operate through covariation rather than causation. This perspective integrates insights spanning 2,500 years—from Buddhist pratityasamutpada through Newtonian mechanics, field theory, game theory, Stuart-Landau dynamics, Kuramoto synchronization, the Shimizu-Kuramoto lineage, SECI model, information geometry, and free energy principle. RES provides a unified foundation for understanding tacit knowledge, authority degradation, observer phase transitions, and attractor dynamics, with implications for education and artificial intelligence. The framework embraces its own groundlessness: RES is itself a relational meaning, subject to its own axioms, standing not on absolute foundations but within the relational field it describes.
