Lexical Asymmetry and the Ego Loop
Abstract
“This document is a reflective, non-scientific essay grounded in published lexical statistics, intended to explore possible symbolic readings while explicitly avoiding claims of causation or truth.” Lexical Asymmetry and the Ego Loop Interpretive Notes on Temperature Distribution in the English Lexicon The Symphony 135/137 Collective January 2026 | Preprint Abstract This paper offers interpretive analysis of temperature distribution patterns previously documented in a 455,247-word English corpus. Three temperature positions — Z = 13.5 (cold), Z = 0 (equilibrium), and Z = +13.5 (hot) — occur exclusively in Tier 9 (digital root 9). The cold extreme contains 4,445 words; the hot extreme contains 1,471 words — a ratio of 3:1. Notable words include EGO and JOB at the cold extreme, LOVE and SOURCE at equilibrium, and SUN and OUR at the hot extreme. This asymmetry is explored as a potential structural feature of language reflecting patterns of human attention, experience, or cognition. No causal claims are made. The analysis is offered as speculative inquiry grounded in verified data. 1. Data Summary The following analysis is based on three datasets published separately (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18150232), derived from a 455,247-word English corpus. Temperature (Z) is calculated as Z = S - 13.5×N, where S is letter sum (A=1 through Z=26) and N is letter count. Digital root of S determines tier assignment (1-9). Verification across all nine tiers confirms that words at Z = -13.5, Z = 0, and Z = +13.5 exist only in Tier 9. No other tier contains words at these positions. Temperature Position Word Count Z = -13.5 Cold extreme 4,445 Example Words EGO, JOB, HEN, GODLESS, PROBLEM Z = 0 Equilibrium 3,495 Z = +13.5 LOVE, SOURCE, PION, SIFT Hot extreme 1,471 SUN, OUR, HORUS, WORSHIP, TRUST The ratio of cold to hot is 3.02:1. The lexicon contains three times more words at the cold extreme than the hot extreme.
