Mapping Research Trends in Mathematics Learning: A Systematic Review of San Isidro College–Affiliated Publications
Abstract
Scholarly writing has become a defining feature of modern educational institutions, reflecting a growing commitment to inquiry, reflection, and evidence-based practice. When examined collectively, published works reveal patterns of thought, shared concerns, and practical insights that extend beyond individual studies. Bringing these perspectives together allows academic communities to better understand how research informs learning, teaching, and institutional development in meaningful ways. A structured review process was used to gather and organize published works from local and international sources, resulting in a focused set of articles that reflect recent directions in mathematics learning research. Through layered analysis, shared ideas and patterns were identified and compared, allowing broader insights to emerge from individual scholarly contributions. The findings show that mathematics learning research increasingly emphasizes real-life relevance, learner experiences, and practical application. Across the reviewed studies, mathematics is consistently presented as a tool for problem-solving, decision-making, and professional practice rather than as purely abstract knowledge. The results highlight the importance of contextualized instruction, inclusive approaches, and innovative teaching strategies in strengthening student engagement and understanding. These patterns demonstrate how institutional research contributes to improving mathematics education by aligning learning with everyday and professional contexts. Overall, the study provides a clear and cohesive picture of emerging research trends that support more meaningful and responsive mathematics learning.
