Abstract

I present a phenomenological cosmology in which the universe avoids eternal acceleration via a thawing Hilltop Quintessence mechanism, asymptotically approaching a quiescent Minkowski vacuum (H → 0). We model Dark Energy using a Pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone Boson (PNGB) potential, calibrated to match local CPL constraints (w0 ≈ -0.95, wa ≈ -0.6). I demonstrate that for characteristic parameters, the field enters a late-time kination phase where the equation of state evolves to w → 1. This enforces a saturation of the expansion without future singularities. Furthermore, we posit that the resulting vacuum is metastable and capable of localized reactivation via non-adiabatic domain walls, governed by Israel Junction conditions. This framework addresses the global entropy paradox by replacing the singular Big Bang with a cycle of local saturation and interfacial ignition, consistent with the Hamiltonian constraint of General Relativity. The model's parameters satisfy key string-theoretic Swampland constraints, providing a UV-complete alternative to Lambda-CDM.
