EMERGING METABOLIC THERAPIES IN POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME
Abstract
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects an estimated 8–13% of reproductive-aged women [1]. It is characterized by insulin resistance, androgen excess, menstrual irregularity, and infertility. Conventional therapies such as metformin and lifestyle modification often provide inadequate metabolic improvement. Emerging therapies—including GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors, and inositols—offer clinically meaningful benefits in weight reduction, glycemic control, androgen reduction, and ovulation restoration [2–11]. This review evaluates evidence on these therapies and proposes phenotype-based clinical applications.
