TWIN PARADOX : SYMMETRY RESTORED
Abstract
Twin paradox is one of the most debated issues in the special theory of relativity. Itinvolves two twins; one of them stays on the earth and the other travels in a spaceshipaway from the earth. The traveler twin returns and comes back to the earth. Theparadox centers around the contention that, in relativity, either twin could regard theother as the traveler, in which case each should find the other younger – a logicalcontradiction. The constancy of speed of light and the clock hypothesis play an important role insolving this contradiction. This has been done in this article in two ways. In both theways, we arrive at a striking and novel result that after reunion of the twins, both findeach other of equal age. This result is consistent with the special theory of relativity.
