The Abbott Hypothesis of Stalled Time: Universal Temporal Tension and the Born Red Prediction
Abstract
The Abbott Hypothesis of Stalled Time: A Structuralist Reformulation of Universal Temporal Tension (Tt) and Phase Transition Cosmology Abstract: This paper proposes a mechanical substrate for the expansion of the universe and gravitational interactions, termed the Abbott Hypothesis. By integrating principles of Linguistic Structuralism and St. Augustine’s views on time with the Hamiltonian framework of potential and kinetic energy, the author proposes that Time is not a static dimension, but the emergent rate of a global phase transition from potential energy density (Temporal Tension) to kinetic reality. The hypothesis defines the vacuum as a medium with a physical Saturation Limit (c^4 / G), providing a parsimonious alternative to Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Key predictions include the "Born Red" spectroscopic anomaly, asserting that light from high-tension environments in the early universe produces inherently lower-frequency emissions at the source. The model derives the observed lensing deflection and the cosmological equation of state (P = -rho * c^2) through a mechanical unfolding of the vacuum's yield strength.
