TMDD: Multi-stability in Taylor--Couette Turbulence
Abstract
In this work, we demonstrate that the "tail" of the Tensor Model of Discrete Dynamics (TMDD) - the ontologically irreducible part of the action absent in the Standard Model and classical hydrodynamics - contains sufficient dynamical structure to provide a quantitative explanation for fundamental anomalies in the ultimate regime of Taylor-Couette turbulence. We derive equations of motion from the "tail" in both parametric and spectral forms and interpret them as a correction to the classical Navier-Stokes equations. By comparing these equations with the phenomenological landscape established in the Twente experiments (Huisman et al., Nat. Commun. 2014), we show that TMDD naturally explains all six key empirical facts: the coexistence of multiple stable turbulent states, hysteresis in the range 0.17 < a < 0.51, the difference in vortex number (3 vs. 4), anomalous scaling Nuω ∝ Ta0.40, a low-frequency peak in the fluctuation spectrum, and the breakdown of the Kolmogorov paradigm. Moreover, we predict new, previously undescribed effects - structural oscillations in the angular velocity profile with an amplitude of 0.5-1% and anisotropy in effective viscosity and formulate protocols for their verification on the existing T³C facility. Our work establishes that the TMDD "tail" is not a theoretical artifact but represents the ontological core from which the observed complexity of macroscopic systems arises.
