Este trabajo presenta una revisión integral de la historia natural del Zunzún (Riccordia ricordii), basada en literatura científica y fuentes accesibles en línea. Se sintetiza información sobre hábitat, alimentación, reproducción, anidamiento y enemigos naturales, incluyendo parásitos y depredadores. El estudio incorpora además el primer registro conocido de miasis cutánea en la especie, aportando nuevos elementos sobre su estado sanitario. Al consolidar información dispersa, en parte ausente de síntesis ornitológicas previas, este trabajo actualiza el conocimiento disponible y subraya la necesidad de estudios contemporáneos sobre la biología y ecología del Zunzún en Cuba. This study presents a comprehensive review of the natural history of the Cuban Emerald (Riccordia ricordii), based on scientific literature and accessible online sources. It synthesizes information on habitat, diet, reproduction, nesting, and natural enemies, including parasites and predators. The paper also documents the first known record of cutaneous myiasis in the species, providing novel insight into its health status. By consolidating information scattered across sources not strictly ornithological, this work updates current knowledge and highlights the need for modern studies addressing the biology and ecology of the Cuban Emerald in Cuba.
