Single Comedy Entropy Through a Sociological Analysis of Ethical Violations as Well as Industry Structure and Quality Degradation Within the Modern Stand Up Comedy Phenomenon in Indonesia
Abstract
This article explores the paradigm shift within the Indonesian comedy industry through a case study of the "Mens Rea" (2025) performance by Pandji Pragiwaksono. Utilizing the lens of cultural sociology and the Second Law of Thermodynamics (Entropy), this paper dissects how the current stand-up comedy structure exploits verbal violence due to political market fragmentation and the absence of collective control systems. A comparative analysis with traditional comedy figures such as Cak Lontong and Komeng demonstrates that professionalism requires robust coordination and ethical systems to prevent the degradation of public intellectual quality.
