The One-Baht Coin B.E. 2505 (1962 CE)
Abstract
This article examines the B.E. 2505 (1962 CE) One-Baht Coin, the first cupronickel coin minted domestically by the Royal Thai Mint under the Ministry of Finance. It marked a new era of Thailand’s self-sufficiency in minting technology, following the earlier use of cupronickel coins minted abroad in R.S. 116 (1898 CE). The 1962 one-baht coin symbolizes Thailand’s advancement in metallurgy and minting precision, representing a significant milestone in the modernization of Thai numismatics.
