Abstract

General Relativity (GR) provides an empirically successful description of gravitationalphenomena through spacetime curvature sourced by stress–energy. However, GR remainssilent on whether spacetime itself can store, retain, or later release energy associated withits historical use by matter and radiation. The Space-Phase Three-State (SP3) frameworkproposes that space is not a passive geometric background but an active, conditionablemedium capable of metastable energy storage and structured discharge. In this paper, weidentify observational and conceptual scenarios—particularly in black holes, quasars, andhigh-flux astrophysical environments—where SP3 predicts behavior beyond GR. We arguethat phenomena often described as anomalous power output or inefficiency in GR arenaturally interpreted in SP3 as phase-discharge events following saturation of space-phasestorage capacity. This work establishes storage–discharge as a core operational feature ofspace-phase and outlines discriminative implications testable in astrophysical andlaboratory contexts.
