Internship proposal: Pulse waveform shape metrics from harmonic analysis in retinal Doppler holography
Abstract
Retinal Doppler holography provides seconds-long, dye-free recordings of beat-resolved blood-flowwaveforms in principal retinal arteries and veins. Beyond mean flow, the \emph{shape} of the pulse waveencodes clinically relevant information (reflection/dicrotic features, relative pulsatility, and high-frequencydamping). This internship will specify, implement, and validate a compact \textbf{Tier-1 panel} of\textbf{pulse waveform shape metrics} extracted from the \emph{complex harmonic content} of the velocity waveform (often measurable up to $\sim$10 cardiac harmonics in high-SNR vessels), under strict quality gates, with uncertainty estimation and benchmark-grade reproducibility. Outputs will be integrated into the open-source pipeline and into the standard microvascular health report.
