BASH/7KB lightweight, simplified Bash-based earthquake disaster prevention awareness and educational tool. Japan Prefecture Selection Version
Abstract
DisclaimerThis tool is a lightweight, simplified Bash-based disaster prevention awareness and educational tool.Short-term earthquake prediction is impossible with current scientific knowledge. The scores and patterns are derived from extremely simple calculations and have very limited scientific basis. For actual disaster prevention actions and evacuation decisions, always prioritize official information from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) or local authorities.License and VersionVersion: 1.0 (January 2026)License: MIT License (free to modify and redistribute)jisin: Offline Simple Earthquake Risk Awareness Tool in Pure Bash (Japanese Edition)How to UseIn the terminal, copy and paste the long code below just once and press Enter.(This completes the installation, and the jisin command will become available.) When an earthquake occurs, launch it by typing jisin in the terminal.Follow the on-screen instructions: Select your current location (home or where you are staying) by prefecture (listed neatly from Hokkaido to Okinawa). Select the prefecture near the epicenter (approximate is fine). Input the magnitude (e.g., 7.2). Results will be output immediately (simple risk assessment within the next 7 hours).Features Assumes a 7-hour action limit time (time from initial signs of a natural disaster to potential large-scale events; based on folklore). Completely offline (no internet required). No external files or dependencies (pure Bash). No latitude/longitude input needed → prefecture names suffice. Location selected each time (no memory → usable even while traveling). Example Output=== Simple Risk Assessment Within 7 Hours ===Current location: TokyoEpicenter area: Miyagi Prefecture M7.5 (approx. 350 km) ※ Near the Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line → Significant increase in chain reaction risk! Risk score: 28.45Pattern tendency: Similar to the Great East Japan Earthquake pattern 【High Risk】 Strong vigilance is required ※ This is a lightweight, simplified Bash-based disaster prevention awareness tool. Always prioritize JMA and local authority information for actual disaster prevention!Output Details Distance (km, integer) Risk score (numerical value calculated from distance and magnitude; higher values indicate greater need for caution) Pattern tendency (similarity to 5 past major earthquakes) Active fault proximity warning (displayed only if applicable) 5-level risk category (Extremely high risk → Normal) Data Sources (Citation Required)All hard-coded data in the script is based on publicly available information from official institutions. Please include the following references in Zenodo's References section.
