Relational Foundations for Order Formation: Covariation Without Causation
Abstract
This paper presents a unified framework integrating three recent contributions: (1) thereduction network connecting order-formation models from Newton to MIPS, (2) theepistemological argument that description without causation is sufficient for science, and (3)Relational Emergence Systems (RES), which posits that only relations exist. We demonstratethat these three perspectives converge on a single thesis: order formation across physical, biological, and social systems can be understood through covariation of relational structureswithout invoking causation. The Stuart-Landau equation serves as the mathematical anchor, the reduction network provides the structural map, and RES supplies the ontologicalframework. Together, they suggest that the recurring patterns observed across domains arenot caused by underlying mechanisms but are structural features of relational configurations.
