Women Empowerment and Gender Equality in New India
Abstract
In the framework of "New India," the empowerment of women and the pursuit of gender equity serve as fundamental drivers of national progress and societal evolution (United Nations, 1995). Comprehensive national growth is predicated on providing women with egalitarian access to educational resources, career opportunities, healthcare, and leadership roles (Government of India, 2023). Despite robust constitutional frameworks and targeted socio-economic welfare programs, systemic disparities persists—often fueled by deep-seated patriarchal traditions and economic dependency (World Bank, 2020). This research analyzes the multi-dimensional nature of empowerment, the current landscape of gender parity in India, and the efficacy of state-led interventions. Utilizing a descriptive methodology based on secondary data, the paper outlines critical hurdles and proposes strategic reforms to foster a more inclusive society (Kabeer, 1999).
