Abstract

The concept of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) has gained significant importance globally as organizations strive to adopt sustainable practices. In India, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector plays a crucial role in economic growth, employment generation, and industrial development. Despite the environmental impact of their operations, MSMEs have been slow in adopting Green HRM practices due to resource constraints, lack of awareness, and infrastructural limitations. This study explores the adoption of Green HRM in India’s MSME sector, analysing the challenges, strategies, and opportunities. By reviewing secondary literature and industry reports, the research highlights effective approaches for integrating environmental sustainability into HR practices, focusing on recruitment, training, performance management, and employee engagement. Findings suggest that with strategic interventions, policy support, and employee involvement, MSMEs can leverage Green HRM to enhance sustainability, organizational efficiency, and competitive advantage. The study also provides recommendations for policymakers and business leaders to facilitate widespread adoption of Green HRM in MSMEs.
