Preparation and biological study of metal ligand complex of (2-methoxy-4-(((pyridin-2-ylmethylene) hydrazono) methyl)phenol) derivatives
Abstract
Abstract: A series of new metal-ligand complexes based on 2-methoxy-4-((pyridin-2-ylmethylene)hydrazone) methyl) phenol with various metal salts - V(II), Cu(II), Cr(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and others(5a-h)—were successfully synthesized and completely characterized using advanced spectroscopy.Biological screening found that compound 5h has high antibacterial activity, surpassing that of theconventional antibiotic ampicillin. Meanwhile, compound 5d showed significant antifungal activity, exceeding miconazole against Aspergillus flavus and Cryptococcus neoformans. Notably, compounds5a and 5g demonstrated broad-spectrum antibacterial action, indicating their potential as flexibletreatment options. These findings not only highlight the metal-ligand frameworks therapeuticpotential but also provide vital insights into their structure-activity connections, pointing in apromising direction for the creation of next-generation antimicrobial medicines in medicinalchemistry.
