Abstract

We present Emergent Time from Information Mechanics (ETIM), a unified informational framework in which physical time is not fundamental but arises from elementary informational transitions. The theory is built on a discrete causal structure of E-events—primitive informational updates forming a directed acyclic graph—whose rank functions define emergent temporal order. Information is organized into hierarchical layers, and a scalar time-intensity field T governs the density of E-events, determining when time emerges, stabilizes, or collapses. This architecture provides a single mechanism underlying diverse physical phenomena. In cosmology, a rapid rise of the time intensity triggers the birth of time, drives inflation, and generates primordial curvature perturbations with naturally small non-Gaussianity. In Schwarzschild spacetimes, gravitational redshift corresponds to a suppression of time intensity, while the interior evolution exhibits a monotonic collapse of T, revealing the classical singularity as a boundary of the temporal domain. In the quantum formulation, T becomes a quantum variable whose wavefunctional satisfies a Wheeler–DeWitt-type equation; classical time emerges in the semiclassical limit, and quantum fluctuations of T seed primordial perturbations. In the information-geometric regime, interference arises from the geometric superposition of informational flows, and measurement corresponds to localization that generates new E-events and thus new temporal structure. Across these domains, ETIM offers a coherent and mathematically grounded framework in which the emergence, evolution, and breakdown of time follow from a single informational principle, unifying cosmology, black hole physics, quantum theory, and information geometry.
