Abstract

ELIXIR Toxicology Community Workshop 5 "Leveraging Systems Biology Models for Toxicology", preceeded EUROTOX2025 in Athens, GR. Dr. Mortensen was Invited to present for workgroup, where the impoving AOP data standards topic was selected for workgroup activity on day 2 of the workshop. Last 2 slides follow the Elixer meeting with final slide laying out some needs for future community collaboration in this area, which were presented at EUROTOX2025 in the VHP4Safety session “The Virtual Human in Toxicology”, co-organised by VHP4Safety and ONTOX.This session brought together three leading experts to explore how in silico tools, AOP frameworks, and exposure-led case studies are shaping the future of animal-free, human-relevant safety assessment:🔹 Chris Evelo – Building a virtual human for chemical risk assessment from software and data; integrating reproducible research and predictive modelling🔹 Holly Mortensen – How structured implementation of Adverse outcome pathway knowledge can strengthen New Approach Methodlogies and support the use of AI and machine learning in regulatory toxicology?🔹 Andrew White – The Utility of Exposure-led NGRA case studies: challenges and progress in integrating non-animal data, tools and models for human-relevant safety assessments ELIXIR Toxicology Community webpage: Toxicology Community | ELIXIR Workshop 5 INTOXICOM website: ELIXIR Toxicology Implementation Study: Integrating the Toxicology Community into ELIXIR ELIXIR Toxicology Community Whitepaper: ELIXIR and Toxicology: a community in development BioHackrXiv Preprint of the first workshop: https://osf.io/preprints/biohackrxiv/un2rw ELIXIR Google-Toxicology folder
