Abstract

Enterprise adoption of reactive systems concentrates gains in tail-latency control and elasticity while shifting complexity into boundary design, testing, and governance. A structured synthesis of ten recent sources integrates pattern-level performance evidence, model-predictive autoscaling for stream workloads, feedback-driven overload control with client-side balancing, explainable performance prediction for rapid mitigation, and domain-driven decomposition outcomes in industry. Joint compute–cache–storage models refine capacity planning beyond CPU-only approximations, and runtime adaptation principles for data-stream processing outline operator-aware scaling and back-pressure design. A systematic review of change impact maps propagation through schemas, event contracts, and shared libraries, motivating contract testing and versioned evolution by default. The paper distills decision rules for selective adoption and a platform checklist that reduces operational toil. Findings guide architects who need explicit trade-off navigation across performance, resilience, testability, and cost in heterogeneous enterprise portfolios.
