Abstract

This study presents the design, development, and evaluation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based gas leak detection and alarm system, addressing critical challenges and considerations in ensuring safe and reliable operation. The system integrates gas sensors, AI algorithms, and IoT technologies to detect gas leaks, predict potential hazards, and trigger timely alerts. Key features include an exhaust fan to mitigate gas accumulation, an LCD for system performance, and alarm notification via buzzer and LED indicators. The system identifies Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leaks and distinguishes between safe and hazardous environments using red and green LEDs. Challenges addressed include data quality and availability, algorithmic transparency, environmental interference, and integration with existing systems. The system's performance is evaluated using metrics such as detection accuracy and response time, demonstrating its effectiveness in mitigating gas leak risks in residential, industrial, and commercial settings, highlighting the potential of AI-driven gas leak detection systems to enhance safety and reliability.
