Note on the Distinction Between Gravitational Time Dilation and Operational Clockability
Abstract
This technical note clarifies the conceptual and operational distinction between gravitational time dilation and internal time (clockability) in physical systems. It shows that gravitational time dilation is a geometric, comparative effect that modifies the accumulation rate of proper time without degrading internal temporal structure, while dissipative processes destroy clockability by degrading internal registers. The note introduces no new physical mechanisms and remains fully within standard relativistic and thermodynamic frameworks, serving as a conceptual clarification and defensive addendum to prior work on operational clockability.
