Phase-Aware Superconducting Hardware
Abstract
Superconducting hardware systems depend on maintaining a coherent physical phase within strict environmental and electrical limits. Failures frequently arise not from defective components, but from operation outside these limits, leading to loss of coherence, instability, or irreversible damage. This paper presents a conservative, hardware-only architectural framework for superconducting systems based on explicit operating envelopes, continuous boundary monitoring, and fail-closed closure behavior. The framework is applied across three tiers of superconducting hardware—sensors (SQUID), classical superconducting logic (SFQ/RSFQ), and quantum circuits (superconducting qubits). No new physical mechanisms, materials, or computational models are proposed. The contribution is an operational discipline for robust, reproducible superconducting hardware systems.
