Development of Swimmers from the Perspective of Applied Motor Learning Based on LTAD – Long-Term Training
Abstract
This article discusses the relevance of Long-Term Training (TLP) in swimming, based on principles of Motor Learning and Human Development. TLP emphasizes a holistic approach, considering physical, technical, tactical, and psychological aspects, aiming for gradual and sustainable athlete development. The paper presents TLP stages, from playful initiation to highperformance and lifelong physical activity. It highlights the integration between motor development phases and swimming pedagogy, proposing the “Gallahue-Newell Mix” as a tool to align individual, environment, and task. The study also stresses individualized training, collaboration among professionals, and understanding swimmer characteristics to design effective programs. Ultimately, the goal is not only to develop elite athletes but also to foster an active and healthy society.
