Subconvexity Bounds for GL(3) Automorphic L-Functions via the Delta Method
Abstract
We establish a subconvex bound for the L-function associated with a Hecke-Maass cusp form for SL(3, Z) in the t-aspect. By employing the Delta Method, a variant of the circle method developed by Munshi, we separate the oscillations of the Dirichlet series coefficients from the analytic conductor. The analysis necessitates the application of the GL(3) Voronoi summation formula, followed by a delicate stationary phase analysis of the resulting integral transforms. We prove that L(1/2+it, ) , (1+|t|)3/4 - + for some > 0, thereby breaking the convexity barrier for degree three L-functions. This work generalizes the shifted convolution sum techniques and provides a robust framework for higher-rank subconvexity problems.
