The Golden Ratio Origin of Physical Constants: E is Prime, φ is Geometry
Abstract
This paper demonstrates that the fundamental constants of physics derive from the golden ratio φ = (1+√5)/2 and the Lucas numbers L(n) = φⁿ + ψⁿ. Building on the Drag-Scale-Object (DSO) framework's foundational claim that Energy (E) is the sole constituent of physical reality, we show that φ is not a replacement for E—it is the geometry of E's self-expression. Beginning with the DSO Planck-scale derivation yielding γ ≈ 2.09, we prove: The decomposition γ = 2 + 0.09 represents rate and cost The conversion cost 0.09 = −ψ⁵ exactly (where ψ = (1−√5)/2) The DSO primitives derive from Lucas numbers: 2 = L(0), 9 = L(5) − L(0), 10 = L(5) − 1 The fine structure constant satisfies 1/α = L(5)² + L(3)² = 11² + 4² = 137 Particle mass ratios are integer combinations: muon/electron = 207, tau/muon = 17, proton/electron = 1836 The master equation φ⁵ = 2 + 9 + 0.09 unifies rate, cost, and overhead. The 0.09 signature appears across all physical scales—nuclear binding, fusion efficiency, black hole accretion, baryon fraction—as the universal conversion cost of Energy expressing as Drag. This explains why φ appears throughout nature: galaxies spiral, shells spiral, DNA spirals—because Energy spirals, and the spiral is φ. E is prime. φ is geometry. Everything else is measurement.
