Transchromatic Character Maps in Equivariant Stable Homotopy Theory and the Geometry of the Lubin-Tate Tower
Abstract
This monograph investigates the geometric underpinnings of transchromatic character maps within the realm of equivariant stable homotopy theory. We construct a family of generalized character maps n,t relating the equivariant Morava E-theory of height n, denoted En, to localizations at lower chromatic heights t < n. These maps are constructed by exploiting the deformation theory of p-divisible groups and the rich geometry of the Lubin-Tate tower. We establish that the codomain of these character maps can be interpreted as rings of functions on the moduli space of deformations equipped with Drinfeld level structures. Furthermore, we analyze the action of the Morava stabilizer group Gn on these structures, providing a rigorous descent-theoretic formulation of the character isomorphism. The results generalize the classical Hopkins-Kuhn-Ravenel character theory, offering a bridge between the chromatic strata of the stable homotopy category and the arithmetic geometry of formal moduli.
