The Honey Badger Management Framework for Human-AI Hybrid Organizations: A Proxy Validation and Integration Analysis
Abstract
This manuscript provides a proxy validation and integration analysis of the Honey Badger Management Framework (HBMF), a systems-theoretic operating model for managing hybrid human-AI teams in high-uncertainty environments. HBMF integrates four core mechanisms: (i) 7-day cancellable sprints based on real options and batch-size economics; (ii) governed intra-team competition via parallel sub-teams with a neutral "Guru" arbiter; (iii) formal accountability for AI assistants as team contributors; and (iv) deliberate redundancy buffers to enhance velocity, resilience, and learning.Absent public longitudinal implementations of the full framework, this work maps each pillar to established theory and replicable evidence from behavioral economics, organizational psychology, software engineering, reliability engineering, and human-AI collaboration research. Evidence grades are assigned: strong (A-) for short cycles, moderate-to-strong (B/B+) for AI augmentation and redundancy, and contingent (C+/B-) for competition due to context-sensitive risks like sabotage, unethical conduct, and psychological safety erosion. To mitigate the "LEGO fallacy" (assuming components compose linearly), integration tensions are critically analyzed, and a minimal 3-month pilot with DORA metrics and safety guardrails is proposed for rigorous testing. HBMF is positioned as a testable hypothesis grounded in public data, compatible with AI governance standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF), but requiring field validation.
