VIDEO: acute gastrointestinal failure and herd-level calf mortality
Abstract
This dataset contains video recordings of clinical examinations performed in neonatal dairy calves during an outbreak of increased preweaning mortality in a commercial dairy herd. The videos document clinical signs consistent with acute gastrointestinal dysfunction, including depression, abdominal distension, altered gastrointestinal motility, absence of fecal output, and signs of abdominal pain. Examinations were conducted as part of routine veterinary assessment in an observational, non-interventional field investigation. No experimental procedures were performed. The videos are provided to complement the clinical findings described in the associated manuscript and to illustrate the severity and progression of gastrointestinal compromise observed in affected calves.
