FEATURES OF THE COURSE OF BRONCHOPULMONARY DYSPLASIA IN NEWBORNS WITH EXTREMELY LOW BODY WEIGHT
Abstract
This article discusses the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), primarily in premature infants with extremely low birth weight (ELBW). Infants with extremely low birth weight (less than 1000 grams) are particularly vulnerable due to the imperfect development of their organ systems. BPD is a polyetiological disorder that occurs in premature infants due to the direct or indirect effects of various factors on morphofunctionally immature lung tissue. The development of this pathology in this age group is characterized by numerous severe clinical manifestations, diagnostic difficulties, and the difficulty of selecting adequate therapy and managing the critical condition of a premature infant with ELBW. The clinical case presented in this article highlights the clinical features of BPD in an ELBW infant, as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic measures taken to treat this condition.
