KALKULUS
Abstract
"The book 'Calculus: Fundamentals and Applications' is a comprehensive learning guide designed to lead readers through an understanding of the two main pillars of calculus—Limits and Derivatives (Differentiation)—along with their applications in various contexts. The book is organized systematically, beginning with a discussion of the philosophy and rationale behind why calculus concepts are necessary, followed by a coherent and practical presentation of the material. The first part of the book provides an in-depth exploration of Limits of Functions. The discussion starts with an intuitive understanding of limits, then expands to cover limits of algebraic, trigonometric, and exponential functions. The concept of function continuity is also explained as a logical consequence of limits, establishing a solid foundation before proceeding to the next chapter. The core section of the book focuses on Derivatives of Functions. The material begins with derivatives of algebraic functions and extends to trigonometric, composite (chain rule), logarithmic, exponential, and implicit functions. Moving beyond mere calculation techniques, the book delves into the meaning of derivatives as tools for analyzing function behavior, covering increasing/decreasing functions, stationary points (maximum and minimum values), and the use of second derivatives. The discussion culminates in a dedicated chapter on the Application of Differentiation in Economics, highlighting the direct relevance of calculus in solving practical problems such as cost, revenue, and profit optimization. With its clear explanations, diverse example problems, and structured exercises, this book is well-suited as a supplementary textbook for classroom use or as a self-study resource for anyone seeking to master the fundamentals of calculus and apply them in real-world problem analysis."
