Abstract

PiXY: Centroid Finder - A GUI tool for detecting region centroids in images and converting pixel coordinates to real-world coordinates using user-defined reference points. Key features: Detect centroids from segmented image regions (posterization/clustering) Add and edit reference points to estimate affine/similarity transforms Interactive, transposed reference table view for quick editing and verification Export coordinates and reference data (CSV) Advanced controls: neck separation for splitting connected particles, boundary visualization, area filtering, and more Version 1.1 improvements: Improved neck separation accuracy with corrected area counting for histogram Better boundary rendering per split component with min/max area filtering applied Requirements: Python 3.10+, OpenCV, NumPy, PySide/PyQt Citation: If you use this software in published research, please cite it using the DOI provided by Zenodo.
