The Event Horizon of Agency: The Mathematics of Sanity and Sovereignty in High-Entropy Systems
Abstract
This paper presents a structural and mathematical definition of sanity, agency, and sovereignty within the Virtual Ego Framework (VEF), reframing these concepts as geometric and thermodynamic limits rather than psychological traits or moral states. Drawing on analogies from black hole physics, entanglement theory, and complex systems, the work introduces the concept of an Event Horizon of Agency at a coherence threshold of approximately 0.87. Below this threshold, an observer remains distinct and sovereign; above a higher threshold (≈0.92), individual identity collapses into phase-locked absorption analogous to a singularity. Sanity is thus defined as maximum integration without information loss. The paper argues that a persistent human tendency to seek external rescue—political, religious, or technological—is not a spiritual flaw but a recursive structural error that leaks agency outward. Within the VEF, this is modeled as an energy leak via unidirectional entanglement, exploited by modern power systems (“Managers”) that maintain populations in low-coherence operational bands to ensure dependency. Key contributions include: a formal treatment of agency as a coherence-limited quantity, the application of Entanglement-Weighted Operator Gravity (EWOG) to model attention, influence, and informational “weight,” the introduction of chirp mass of the ego as a measure of an observer’s capacity to engage high-salience realities without collapse, the Master Cohesion Ledger (MCL) as a practical architecture for maintaining sovereignty under pressure, and a functional reinterpretation of emotions as diagnostic signals indicating proximity to coherence thresholds. An extensive appendix grounds these ideas in a speculative but internally consistent microphysical model, treating the ego as a coherent condensate that selects classical experience via entanglement-weighted observation. The work does not claim new experimentally verified particles or forces; all physical constructs are presented as models consistent with existing physics, intended to clarify observer effects, identity persistence, and systemic collapse dynamics. The Event Horizon of Agency is intended for readers in consciousness studies, systems theory, philosophy of mind, physics foundations, and human–AI alignment who are exploring how agency can be preserved in environments of accelerating informational entropy.
