Inertial Frames as Electrically Enforced Physical Regimes A Non-Mathematical Operational Clarification
Abstract
This paper provides a non-mathematical, operational clarification of what it means for an inertial frame to exist in physical reality. While inertial frames are treated in theory as abstract coordinate systems, in practice they must be realized using material apparatus that maintains coherent spatial and temporal relations over time. The paper argues that this coherence—termed the inertial regime—is not a geometric given but a continuously maintained physical state enforced primarily by electromagnetic interactions that bind matter, suppress internal relative acceleration, and stabilize clocks and rulers against thermal and mechanical noise. By distinguishing inertia as a property of mass from the inertial regime as a noise-limited, electrically enforced condition of material systems, the work makes explicit a foundational physical precondition silently assumed in experimental physics and metrology, without modifying or challenging existing theories such as Newtonian mechanics or relativity.
