Bridging Leonardo Polo's Philosophical Physics with the Discrete Extramental Clock Law: Ontological Emergence of Discrete Time in Chaotic Systems
Abstract
This technical note explores a novel interdisciplinary connection between the philosophical physics of Leonardo Polo, as systematized in Claudia E. Vanney’s 2007 doctoral thesis Los principios reales del universo físico: La física filosófica de Leonardo Polo, and the recently proposed Discrete Extramental Clock Law (Padilla, 2025 series). Polo’s realism identifies four irreducible extramental principles of the physical universe — physical essence, physical form, prime matter, and physical efficient cause — while rejecting time as an independent substantial principle. Instead, time emerges as a consequence of real physical dynamism. The Discrete Extramen- tal Clock Law provides numerical and mathematical evidence that objective extra- mental time is discrete, hierarchically emerging from ordinal conjunctions in fully chaotic systems, quantified via Systemic Tau (τs, noise-robust Kendall rank corre- lation) and governed by Feigenbaum universality. This convergence suggests that chaotic dynamics offers empirical-mathematical support for Polo’s intuition: time is not a Newtonian absolute continuum but a derived, non-substantial emergence from real physical acts. Proposed equations formalize this synthesis, interpreting Feigenbaum’s constant δ as a universal proportion manifesting Polo’s efficient cause.
