Bitcoin as a Requiem for Late Capitalism An XChronos Interpretation of the Ontological Collapse of Value
Abstract
This article argues that Bitcoin constitutes not merely an emerging financial phenomenon but an ontological symptom of the historical exhaustion of late capitalism. Drawing on authors such as Elizabeth A. Povinelli, David Orrell, Fredric Jameson, and Jonathan Crary, the article proposes that Bitcoin operates as a "requiem"—a symbolic form that reveals the collapse of the structures that sustained economic value in modernity. By dissociating value from matter, labor, and the State, Bitcoin exposes the final stage of a system whose internal logic has already disintegrated. In contrast, the XChronos ontology is presented as an alternative model for understanding the transition toward systems grounded in subjective time, consciousness, and symbolic collapse.
