Abstract
Le travail repose sur le texte latin établi principalement d’après l’édition de Mansi, confrontée aux traditions de Hoveden et du Recueil des historiens des Gaules et de la France.______________ This article presents an annotated French translation of the Acts of the Controversy of Lombers (1165), together with a historical and theological commentary on the public confrontation between two Cathar preachers and the ecclesiastical authorities of southern France. The study highlights the profoundly political and judicial nature of this confrontation, which, although presented as a theological disputation, in reality functioned as a mechanism of constraint intended to dismantle a seigneurial network of protection in favor of the Cathars. The analysis focuses on the strategy of the “Good Men”, based not on doctrinal debate but on evangelical exemplarity, and on the institutional drift of the Roman Church, whose scriptural argumentation reveals a theology increasingly oriented toward the legitimation of power, hierarchy, and the repression of dissident religious movements. The work is based on the Latin text established primarily from the edition of Mansi, compared with the traditions of Hoveden and the Recueil des historiens des Gaules et de la France.
