Abstract

Additive manufacturing technology, often known as three-dimensional printing technology, uses computer-aided model design to create customized 3D-printed medications. The pharmaceutical industry has been using more advanced 3D printing technology in recent years. Personalized medicine manufacturing benefits greatly from 3D printing technology, which makes it simple to create preparations with intricate structures or drug release characteristics and quick to produce tiny quantities of medications. The mechanisms of the most widely used 3D printing technologies are summarized in this review, along with their features, benefits, drawbacks, and applications in the pharmaceutical industry. It also analyzes the global commercialization of 3D printed drugs and their issues and challenges, reflects the industry's development trends and regulatory aspects.
