AI and Green Architecture: The New Skillset for Climate-Smart Buildings
Abstract
This presentation examines the evolving intersection between artificial intelligence and green architecture, positioning climate-smart buildings as intelligent, adaptive systems rather than static sustainable objects. It traces the shift from traditional green design, based on fixed strategies and compliance checklists, toward climate intelligence, where buildings continuously sense, analyze, predict, and adapt to environmental conditions. Drawing on examples such as predictive design, adaptive façades, energy intelligence, and human-centered environmental control, the talk highlights how AI enables earlier, evidence-based decisions with long-term impacts on carbon performance, resilience, and wellbeing. Beyond technology, the presentation emphasizes the growing responsibility of architects, engineers, and eco-leaders to interpret data critically, govern intelligent systems ethically, and prevent greenwashing.
