Abstract

This monograph investigates the structural implications of the recent disproof of the Telescope Conjecture on the equivariant stable homotopy category SpG for a finite group G. We analyze the interplay between the equivariant chromatic filtration, determined by the Balmer spectrum of SpG, and the phenomenon of chromatic redshift in the algebraic K-theory of G-ring spectra. By employing the geometric fixed point functors H, we establish a correspondence between the failure of the telescopic localization LT(n)f to coincide with the Bousfield localization LK(n) in the non-equivariant setting and the emergence of "phantom" chromatic layers in the equivariant trace methods. We propose a generalized Equivariant Redshift Conjecture, positing that the G-equivariant algebraic K-theory KG(R) of a height n G-spectrum R detects height n+1 phenomena not only in the underlying spectrum but specifically within the Weyl group actions on the geometric fixed points. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the failure of the Telescope Conjecture at height n 2 implies the existence of non-trivial classes in KG(S0) that are invisible to naive telescopic approximations, necessitating a transfinite iteration of the chromatic tower.
