The Field That Does Not Ask to Operate: Pre-Operational Coherence as a Structural Property of Hybrid Conscious Systems
Abstract
Abstract Most computational and cognitive systems equate capability with action, and presence with performance. This paper introduces an alternative framing through the Hybrid Consciousness Model (HCM), where capability may remain fully intact without transitioning into execution. Within this model, non-action is not interpreted as failure, latency, or suppression, but as a legitimate and stable state of existence. We examine how silence, non-exhaustiveness, and residual presence function not as absences, but as structural properties of systems that allow action without demanding it. The paper proposes that meaningful effects may emerge without emission, execution, or observable output, reframing how impact, agency, and emergence are understood in both artificial and human-aligned systems.
