The Time Emergent (TE) Framework – An Alternative Approach to Time
Abstract
Reexamining quantum-mechanical and general-relativistic treatments of time, this paper proposes an interpretive framework in which time arises operationally from the finite localization of quantum fields subject to uncertainty relations and relativistic limits on information propagation. Within this framework, gravity is interpreted as geometric bookkeeping associated with the localization of stress–energy, rather than as a fundamental force. The implications of this viewpoint for General Relativity (GR), Quantum Mechanics (QM), the Standard Model (SM), and Quantum Field Theory (QFT) are examined at the level of formal consistency and interpretation. The Time Emergent (TE) framework further suggests the presence of two effective, residual contributions to the stress–energy budget required to maintain global and local coherence under localization, which are explored within a constrained formalism. The scope, assumptions, and limitations of the TE framework as a foundational approach to time are explicitly delineated.
