The Positive-Negative Energy Interpretation of Conservation Laws: A Wormhole Hypothesis Perspective
Abstract
The traditional formulation of energy conservation considers only positive energy forms, treating gravitational potential energy's negative sign as a mere mathematical convention. This paper argues that negative energy is not an abstraction but a physically real phenomenon, with wormholes representing its structural manifestation. Building on the Zero-Energy Universe hypothesis supported by Hawking, Guth, Tryon, and others, we propose that the universe's total energy equals zero because positive energy (matter, radiation) and negative energy (gravitational binding) are created as paired opposites. This reinterpretation explains why energy can be "released" but never "created"—all energy release is the breaking of positive-negative bonds, not the generation of new energy. This is Paper 2 of the Wormhole Gravity Hypothesis series.
