AI-Integrated Adaptive PHY within Large-Scale SRAM for High-Speed Communication
Abstract
Modern high-speed communication interfaces rely on fixed PHYs with static laneallocation, pre-defined encoding, and limited adaptive features. Our proposedarchitecture reimagines this paradigm:AI-PHY Integration: The PHY layer is controlled by an embedded AI modulecapable of real-time lane management, adaptive pre-emphasis/de-emphasis,and dynamic ECC/FEC allocation.SRAM as Carrier & Computation Medium: Large SRAM arrays act as both highspeed buffers and a platform for AI inference, enabling the AI-PHY to processsignal metrics (eye diagrams, BER, skew) directly within the memory fabric.Dynamic Lane Utilization: Lane bonding (TX++, RX++) and lane splitting (singlelane divided into multiple logical channels) can be applied adaptively based onsignal integrity and channel conditions.Signal Self-Protection: Redundant bandwidth and dynamic ECC allocationprovide in-line protection, reducing error rates without external intervention.
