Transition from Classical Stochastic Traffic to Deterministic Self-Organized Flows: A Phase-Transition-Based Protocol for Mass Autonomous Mobility
Abstract
This paper proposes a decentralized traffic coordination protocol that eliminates phantom traffic jams by inducing a phase transition from stochastic, high-entropy flow to deterministic, self-organized order. By redefining vehicles as lattice points governed by local interaction fields, the system achieves emergent determinism with constant computational complexity. The protocol enables super-fluid traffic behavior, dramatically increasing road capacity, minimizing energy loss, and maintaining resilience without centralized control or vehicle-to-vehicle communication.
