Abstract

In the context of holographic cosmology and quantum gravity constraints, this work uncovers a novel kinematic signature at the cosmic horizon that challenges the standard ΛCDM paradigm. We identify a kinematic relation in flat ΛCDM: the rate at which vacuum energy is swept into the apparent horizon is numerically close to the Schwarzschild accretion limit c³/2G, within ≈0.5% for concordance values Ω_Λ ≈ 0.67. We derive an H₀-independent sweep-rate expression Ṁ_Λ = (9/4) Ω_Λ(1 − Ω_Λ) c³/G, which implies a saturation condition with two roots, Ω_Λ = 1/3 and Ω_Λ = 2/3, bracketing the era of cosmic acceleration. Whenever the universe's sweep rate exceeds the Schwarzschild benchmark—as it does throughout the super-Schwarzschild phase between these roots—a holographic back-reaction arises, transferring energy from vacuum to cold dark matter. This "Dark Drag" mechanism has been active throughout cosmic history: it contributed to deceleration in the matter-dominated era and prevents runaway acceleration toward de Sitter in the far future. The universe relaxes toward equilibrium at Ω_m = 1/3, q = −1/2, where the sweep rate exactly saturates the Schwarzschild limit. The interaction strength is not phenomenological: geometric conservation constraints fix β = 1/2, while area dilution yields an effective coupling β_eff = 0.125. A quintessence realisation fixes the potential slope to λ ≈ 2.12. The dark drag naturally suppresses matter clustering, offering a physical resolution to the S₈ tension inherent to Planck ΛCDM. Numerical integration in a modified CLASS Boltzmann code yields σ₈ = 0.736 and S₈ = 0.779—in excellent agreement with weak lensing measurements. The model predicts distinct observational signatures: an apparent thawing equation of state with CPL parameters w₀ ≈ −0.978 and w_a ≈ -0.019 (arising from the interaction, not dynamical dark energy), and a late-time "Matter Floor" where Ω_m → 1/3 rather than vanishing as in standard ΛCDM. We demonstrate that this higher matter density improves agreement with local supernova data and outline falsifiable tests with DESI, Euclid, and Roman.
