Abstract

In recent decades, technological advancement has revolutionized educational systems worldwide, offering unprecedented access to knowledge and reshaping pedagogical strategies. However, alongside these benefits emerges a growing concern: the erosion of social connectedness among learners. This research critically examines the complex relationship between educational technologies and social interaction, arguing that while technology facilitates individualized learning and remote access, it simultaneously diminishes interpersonal engagement, empathy, and the communal experience of learning. Drawing from interdisciplinary studies in sociology, education, and digital media, this article explores how digital education—through online learning, social media integration, and AI-driven platforms—affects students' emotional and social development. Furthermore, the article evaluates strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of digital learning on social cohesion, emphasizing the importance of hybrid models, emotional intelligence, and community-based learning environments.
